Basswood Carving Blocks
Quality kiln dried basswood carving blocks for
the woodcarver.
Basswood
is the most commonly used wood by woodcarvers. Basswood
is soft enough to cut easily with a knife or gouge, but hard enough to hold
detail that has been carved. Basswood
works well with hand as well as power tools. Basswood
can be burnt with a wood burner to create fine detail such as hair and feathers.
Our basswood is Northern grown for quality - clear,
almost white color, with no knots. We only
sell basswood carving blocks that we would be willing
to carve ourselves. We have a good selection
of Basswood carving blocks in 2", 3", and 4" thick stock
(rough cut dimensions - surfacing will reduce the thickness by about 1/4" or
less) --- other dimensions are very close to exact.
We stock 12 and 16 inch long
basswood blocks -
